This level is about the further development of the skills learned in the Sophomore Division. When the girls finish the second year in this division, they will be smart aggressive base runners, be fundamentally sound at the plate and be aware of most defensive situations (i.e. where to make the play). They should be able to:
Consistently make strong accurate throws
Make snap throws
Catch throws with proper glove position
Field ground balls, with good range
Catch pop ups and fly balls, always using two hands
Pitchers should show good speed and decent accuracy
Catchers should be able to block bad pitches
Back each other up on defense
Have good base running skills
Have good hitting mechanics
Have good field awareness
Pitchers and catchers should be getting as much one-on-one coaching as possible in the proper mechanics of pitching and catching. The league offers clinics to help with this development.
If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, feel free to reach out to TBD, Junior Division Coordinator.
